this is a very different coloring book its cute but the faces have a very different and unique look about them I think the whole book is really cute. I love the girls in them and I plan on using them in my art journal as bookmarks or little bits in the background I really love that this is very different from any other coloring book I have super cute and I am so glad I bought it. I have so many coloring books I will never finish them.
This is a classic case of "you can't judge the book by the cover." When I first received this book, I was super disappointed thinking that the cover reflected the content. To my surprise and delight, the images in the book were all SO MUCH BETTER!I am really enjoying this book - it reminds me of the glamorous paper dolls I loved as a kid. The image I've attached reminds me of Rainbow Bright if she grew up with her adoring fan base. I definitely recommend this book and appreciate that I had the opportunity to review this book as part of the Blue Star Coloring book monthly review program.

I liked this much more than I expected to, to be honest. Not really a fashion-conscious person in real life, but these designs are cute and fun. Decent quaility paper (suitable for markers), single-sided and non-perforated pages.

This book is adorable in every way. The art is gorgeous and imaginative, and oh, so colorful. The story, too, is wonderfully written. For those of us who are very early into learning Japanese, the romanji was a wonderful addition, though when trying to read with the Japanese characters alone, it can be a little distracting. I must read this book several times a day to my daughters, and I love it so much I tend to read it on my own for Japanese practice. Anyone interested in learning Japanese, or reading in Japanese, or bilingual books in general should check out this book.

Not only does this book have an adorable style and good message; this book is perfect for absolute beginners. There is no kanji, minimal katakana, almost all hiragana, and there’s the romaji spelling coupled with the English translation. This book can be taught to kids of either direction, beginners of English or Japanese.I recommend this kid’s book for people looking to get started with language learning.
This book was super cute! I'm studying Japanese and Japanese picture books are helpful when it comes to learning new vocabulary and sentence structures. I would like to see more of these, as well as some a bit more advanced with basic Kanji with furigana.

He founded and ran Court TV, The American Lawyer magazine, ten regional legal newspapers, and Brill's Content magazine. Brill was the author of Time's March 4, 2013, special report "Bitter Pill: Why Medical Bills Are Killing Us," for which he won the 2014 National Magazine Award for Public Interest, and the 2015 bestseller America's Bitter Pill. He has regularly appeared as an expert analyst on NBC, CBS, and CNN. Brill’s is one of a gazillion recent books that addresses the question, what happened to America? That it’s broken, we all know, even if we don’t always admit it to ourselves.This book, however, really is different. Brill is one of the few authors who has the legal and financial expertise to really get it right. And that he does. The problem is not social, political, racial, or patriarchal (although the latter two are real problems that must be addressed). The problem is economic. In short, the new American aristocracy are the wealthy who continue to elevate themselves above the rest of society financially and who have successfully dug moats around themselves and their children to protect their elite status.It is, in my own words, the commercialization of America. The wealthy in America have successfully constructed a false meritocracy where ‘merit without means’ has grown increasingly difficult. Class mobility, as a result, has declined and fewer and fewer of our youth can expect to live better than their parents.It’s the universal law of unintended consequences. We replaced the old-boy, inherited wealth aristocracy with a true meritocracy. The meritorious among us, however, used their newfound mobility to create a world where class mobility has been commercialized. The children of the already wealthy, as a result, who have access to private schools, tutors, SAT prep classes, violin lessons, and the latest technology, have a material advantage in climbing their own ladder of merit.What distinguishes Brill’s book is that he works harder than most authors on providing solutions, or at least finding and revealing people and institutions who have already made a difference (no, not Trump) and who offer a template for moving forward.Brill is informed across a wide spectrum of topics. He is, first and foremost, however, a journalist and it shows. The prose is easy to read but always backed up with plenty of data. At times, perhaps, just a tad too much. But that’s okay. He, more than most, makes it clear why we are all so disillusioned.This book will make you mad. And it should. Our politicians are dialing for dollars while Washington burns. And Brill has the connections and the writing skills to bring the heat into your living room.A very good book that no one will want to pick up a second time. But that’s okay. Sometimes we need a good whack to make sure we’re still awake.
By the time they reach the end of this excellent book, readers may wonder that anything is still working in America for anyone other than the well-educated, the well-connected, and those wealthy enough to retreat to their financial and gated enclaves. (For examples, read the real estate section of the Friday edition of the Wall Street Journal.) After cataloging the depressing and interlocking shortcomings of American society over the last 50 years, Brill is still optimistic about the future, and includes many examples of people taking personal responsibility to foster the fading common good. Those who are more pessimistic than the author will recall that it took a vestigial socialist tradition, a Great Depression, and the Second World War to move America away from earlier tailspins. More recently, the organized opposition of millions of Americans to the Vietnam war failed to end that senseless conflict. Today millions of people are shocked by the level of gun violence in our country, but cannot organize around this issue to effect real change. I applaud the efforts of Brill and the many people who are challenging the system with real alternatives, but I fear that it will take a seismic cataclysm to relieve the present persistent nightmare.
A fantastic account of every court battle, regulation, and congressional act since the 50s that's lead America to where it is today; the country with the most most wealth inequality in the developed world. Reading this, it's clear how my generation of millenials was left with nothing but the scraps of a dying nation.
In this extensively researched book, Steve Brill concludes that “the country has gone into a tailspin since the post-war era†with, among other things, increased income inequality, a deteriorating infrastructure, a high poverty rate, mediocre health care and student achievement and a dysfunctional and money corrupted Congress. He then goes into great detail to describe how this has come about and what some people are trying to do about it.One of his key findings is that meritocracy has become the new aristocracy. In other words, top students from the top law schools began to enjoy enormous incomes by working with big businesses to generate favorable legislation and regulations and devise ways to work around tax and other laws.Brill devotes several pages to what he calls the Greening of the First Amendment which has enabled businesses to spend considerable money in political campaign and requires legislators to spend substantial time raising campaign funds. He describes instances where the enormous amount spent on lobbying has prevented appropriate regulation and legislation.Brill laments that businesses that have been found to be serious law breakers are able to get by with fines that for many are just considered a cost of doing business while no action is taken against the executives who authorized or were aware of the unlawful activities.Overall, I found most of Brill’s comments to be appropriate.Brill notes organizations trying to change things for the better, including the Bipartisan Policy Center, Better Markets, Open Secrets and Peter Edelman with Georgetown’s poverty and inequality center.Brill ends with surprising optimism. “Things may get worse before they get better,†he says. But “Americans …are going to decide enough is enough.â€
Steven Brill is a brilliant man & a superb writer - I have read everything he has written. I like to get up early & read when it is nice & quiet, but I must say this book was difficult to read more than a chapter at a time because it is so depressing. It set the tone for my day as negative. Brill delineates the greed & corruption of our congress & the business world. His facts are true & that makes it all the more disheartening. And most disheartening of all is that the only hope he provides are in the last 3 pages of the book! How I wish it was not so.

If you have seen the hardcover edition and like it, and are buying what you think is going to be a paperback edition of that same book, you may be sorely disappointed. First off, notice the specifications do not tell how many pages this edition has, but the hardcover advises there are 160 pages in that one. This softcover edition has been totally redesigned and laid out so it is now 112 pages. Aside from large photos being reduced in size and cropped (not really offensively so in most cases), there are others not so acceptable. I'll point to just one case and then you make up your own mind. In the hardcover edition, Selznick's search for the right actress to play Scarlett features three full-page, elegant photos of Katherine Hepburn, Bette Davis, and Joan Crawford, with 12 other actresses shown, four to a page on three other pages. In the softcover edition, KH, BD, and JC are cropped severely and put on one page, and all the others are simply not there. That's basically the idea of what has happened here. You decide.
Having read all three books recently released about Gone With the Wind I would have to say this is the weakest. It's basically a magazine in hardcover. Nothing new presented here. One glaring error was of a picture claiming to be of Margaret Mitchell visiting the Selznick Studios. She never did and the photo looks nothing like Margaret.Only for the very devoted. Otherwise save your money and buy one of the other books. The Scarlett Letters or The Making Of Gone With the Wind by Steve Wilson.
GREAT book! Enlarged pictures from the actual movie but most of all the background and a few secrets from it. Detail in black and white and especially the colorized portions of the movie. Gorgeous colors from the movie! A MUST for the serious GWTW collector. Place it on your coffee table in the living room and you will have GREAT conversations about it! Have a GWTW party! lol :-)

Even though I am an attorney practicing throughout different courts in the United States, ANYONE can improve their lexicon regardless of job, status, career, etc.I have listened to the Word Master for about 3 months so far and I have the following comments:Pros- Excellent quality of sound- The background music is dulcet to the ears- The words are complex and challenging (most of them at least)- Every so often there will be a hiatus to allow the speakers to provide some historical information on certain terms which I find interesting and intellectually stimulating- Relatively affordable priceConsThe background music is monotonous and will get boring after a whileI wish it came with a PDF file listing all of the wordsSome definitions (I have found at least 3) provided by the speakers are not totally correct or at least not totally consistent with the ones provided in well regarded dictionariesBe warned that it does take time and effort before you can become eloquent and can master these words. Do not expect overnight results. Depending on your consistency and effort, you are probably looking at about 12 months before you can master Word Master.I commend you on your desire to enhance your vocabulary and wish you the very best.
Perfect for listening in the car. My comprehension and use of the words is improving almost effortlessly. The choice of words for this program is wise in that they are words we can actually use to be more articulate and concise in our communication, as opposed to obscure words that are not well understood by our listeners and which can make us sound pretentious in an epigrammatic fashion ,
This product has been great. I have been listing to it for over a year and have enhanced my vocabulary in doing so. It's great for the drive home, going on a trip, at the gym, or just listing to it at your home. My 7 year old daughter likes to listen to it as well. It's funny to hear her use some of the terms like when she is hungry she wants something salubrious to eat or when we are in the store and she is telling her 4 year old brother to stop being rapacious. On a more serious note it's been greatly used in my professional area. I highly recommend this to anyone looking to increase there verbal finesse.
About 40% of the information (words) on these CDs I already knew, another 30% I knew but hearing the definition refined them for me, 20% of what's on the CDs is fluff (useless) information and the rest are the new words I didn't know. I had a tough time understanding the woman speaker but the male voice usually repeats the words, spelling and definition.It's not a bad set especially if you are just learning the English language but definitely not the words I occasionally need to look up in my reading.We tried to listen to these on a five hour drive but this was the first time I nearly fell asleep driving!
Great buy. I was looking for audio books to improve my vocabulary and found this (wordmaster) to be excellent for my needs. If you know the importance of investing in yourself, then look at this purchase as buying a book. When you read a book, you take away some gems out of it and usually don't remember the rest of the information. So if your hesitant on buying wordmaster because it might include basic words, wouldn't it be worth it if you learned atleast fifty percent of the words. My next audio book purchase will be "verbal advantage", which is a lot expensive than wordmaster. But I'm serious about my speaking skills, so I'll invest the time and money.
Overall great product that teaches you words, their pronunciation and usage. I expected it to inform me some more details about the word e.g. its history & origin, usage in a more elaborated way to know where it can be used and where it cannot be. It tried to do justice what it was intended for. The audio version saves you time while mutitasking. I listen to it while commuting from home to work. Overall I liked it and I am 200 words stronger in just 10 days after listening to 4 CDs(I am yet to listen to rest of the CDs.). Worth mentioning that it gives you the synonyms too thats helps understand the word better. A thumbs up from me...!!!
It's not bad BUT.....I would've liked for it include more examples of word usage instead of just one. Also, I wish the spelling of the words would've been split by syllables instead to make it less confusing while trying to visualize it.
Interesting and effective dvd set. I love audiobooks and this is a great addition to my collection. I thoroughly enjoyed the cds while I was listening to them (a month), but once I stopped listening to them I never listened again. I am going to go back and listen and test my retention of any foreign words if they exist. Definitely worth having in your arsenal is you love the convenience of learning in your car and you have little ones around.
