I am completely new to franchising and I was looking for a book which could introduce me to it and help me decide if this is the path I want to pursue at this point in my life. I read another book about franchising (based on Amazon's top ratings) but found it to be rather dull and not very insightful. This book covers the topic from soup to nuts (the nuts being up until you actually purchase a franchise). I found the book very entertaining and easy to read to the point that I finished it in a few days (not easy for me since I am a slow reader).The author takes a very practical approach to lowering your risk when finding and purchasing a franchise. He doesn't push franchising on you and even has a test to see if you are a right fit for franchising. The book also answered most of my questions like: Should I use a franchise consultant and what do they do in the first place? How much can I afford to start a franchise? Is financing available? What is the process of purchasing a franchise? What is the FDD and what parts are important? What should I ask when I talk to other franchisees? and more.I would have liked the author to go more into if a person should create a LLC, S-Corporation, etc. There was only a paragraph on that and I'd like to know more about the plusses and minuses of each and when to create one. Other than that, the book was fantastic. Buy this one first before any others!

I ordered this book on little information to go by, and am thrilled with it. Though it spanned over 100 years, most books blip right past the Georgian era. It's extra heavenly therefore to have a whole book devoted to the subject, and one that is well written and beautifully photographed as well. Many/most images are color - including portraits and archival illustrations. I'd consider it a reference work, as it is more than just pretty photos. The authors are jewelry dealers and experts - I think their research on that subject can be trusted. I was really pleased with the amount and quality of the information provided in that regard, especially as so many jewelry books focus on being price guides (which this is not) and include little or no text. While the entire period is covered, I'd say the emphasis is on the latter half, the Regency-George IV's rule in particular - which is the time period I am most interested in. The chapters cover daytime jewelry; evening jewelry; romantic jewelry (including the fascinating eye portraits, or "lover's eye" jewelry, hair jewelry, acrostic jewelry, including those lovely "regard" rings, and other types of sentimental jewelry); and mourning jewelry. In the final chapter, they discuss tips and pitfalls of collecting Georgian jewelry (and I learned that if I want a Georgian "regard" ring that I'll only too likely forget to take off when showering/gardening, etc., I had better get a reproduction). The photos are simply wonderful, and dates are provided for most of the pieces, which I appreciate. I can't stop looking at it.
If you are looking for a book on jewelry from about 1760-1830, this book is 5 star. However, my interest was in 1714-1730 & I found only about 6 pieces from the earlier time period. I think the title led me to expect more balanced coverage of the entire period of time in the title.
This book does have beautiful illustrations, but it lacks the depth of description that I would have liked to see. It also seems not to address the types of items that I have seen available to the average collector. However, it does provide a comprehensive review of the styles that were prevalent during this time period. I do highly recommend it for the anyone because of the photographs, but I would hope that there are other publications that the serious collector would consider to supplement it.
I bought this because I saw it referred to on an ebay listing I was considering and I'm so glad that I did. It is the most wonderful resource. If you love Georgian jewelry you simply must treat yourself to this lovely book. It is simply full of pictures of beautiful jewelry which Americans, like myself, simply never get to see. The cover alone is so beautiful--I keep it on my bedside table just to look at the beautiful cover.

The authors state in the introduction that they hope this book will fill in a space in the reference works for collectors of Georgian jewellery - and with that in mind they have done a fine job with this book. It is filled with beautiful colour plates of Georgian jewellery to enable you to gain an eye for the styles and techniques used during the period. The text is rather light - it is mostly about the social conventions behind the types of jewellery illustrated. The majority of the jewels illustrated are English but there are also quality examples from other countries that collectors may come across.For established collectors of antique jewellery the back section of this book will probably prove the most useful where the authors describe some of the fakes etc in the current market and how to spot them. For lovers of antique jewellery this book is a must and it is an excellent companion to the more technical book by MDS Lewis Antique Paste Jewellery (Faber collectors library) on the paste jewels of the same period.

Shows great examples of Georgian jewellery. I sell antique jewellery at Uchizono Gallery and there are almost identical pieces pictured in this Georgian Jewellery book. Very useful to show my customers what they are buying and when a piece was made. Wonderful to share such an amazing collection!

Great for entire family.
My son loves this book
I finished 'reading' this a couple days ago. I put off writing the review because I wanted to write it in German. But I just feel too inept in my writing and speaking of the language. So English it is. In case anyone is interested, I have started working with an app called DuoLingo where you can learn other languages. I started out wanting to do Spanish and German but my two semesters of German is closer in memory (I took those nearly a couple decades ago) than my two years of Spanish in high school. So after I get better with my German I may go back and try Spanish again. Either way, I understand a lot more written than I do any other way. I wish DuoLingo offered Latin because that has got me through a lot of my life as a basis.***This was a cute little book about the love of three sons for their mother. They want to give her a birthday present to show their love. It is sweet and adorable. I would love to be able to read it aloud one day to myself, my cats and hey, it could happen, my grandchildren.My biggest problem is that the text-to-speech doesn't work. I would think a child would love to have this be a book to read or have read to him or her so they could learn to read it themselves and understand from both languages. And the language of love that the bunny brothers teach so well. By the way, I have downloaded the German narrators on my fire but they didn't work any better than the English version. So I will have to learn the words better to be able to speak them with any expertise at all. This nice part about the DuoLingo app is you do get to practice speaking the language. I do wish I could find more books that are read to me in the easy learning levels.
Loved this book! I got it for my great nephews to hopefully learn a little German while they're still young and pick up language early.
My daughter loved this to read to her twins

I'm quite fond of Lang Leav's work. I mean, being 20-something year old on Tumblr, you HAVE to be! Am I right? With that being said, that website is where I first got introduced to her writing. The poetry in this book, I can describe it as a true love story: from all aspects of life. There's writing about loving yourself and the trials that may come with it sometimes. There are poems about "the one that got away". There are poems about the person who just gets you, now. Simply and beautifully written. I cannot wait to get her other books!
This book of poetry completely blew me away. The deceptively simple looking poems carry a staggering emotional weight to them. This is an exceptional volume of beautiful observations about deep love. I can't wait to see what else this author writes in the future.
Great poems about love. Told in a way that makes it so you are truly there, experiencing it. Although it's not my favorite of her works, it's still one that will stay with me. She has a way with words, that's for sure.
This is poor work for Leav. I've loved everything else she's written but this is just middle school ramblings that only make sense/connect with the writer.
The writing in this book is superb! It's like she is able to convey the most intangible parts of the feels into her work. I have recently gotten back into reading poetry because of this book. I found out about this author by scrolling through instagram and I happened to see a post of one of her poems that really moved me. I highly recommend this book it is a quick read and I'm currently reading it again.
This is a beautiful poetry book that I recommend for sure. I am very interested in reading more from this author.
I love Lang Leav! This, and her other book called "Memories" are my favorite so far.
