OMG!!!! No words for this book seriously!!!Tasha is brought up in a sickening world of prostitution which was no choice of her own. Her mom abandoned her and always told her that her father never wanted a dark skin child so her self esteem was tore down. When she lands in Juvie her sister Coral comes and finds her and help her to get her life on track.Here comes Jeremy who is a full fledge Dom and he will do nothing to stop at get to Tasha once he's had her but he also has some issues of abandonment from his mother when drops him off at a home and never looks back.These two have a remarkable story and all I can say is I need me a Jeremy Bennett!!!!!!!
Love, Love, Love Jeremy & Tasha’s story. Great read! The bdsm element was a nice touch in this story. It was tastefully added ... not overpowering at all. Tasha & Jeremy’s relationship & communication was not only thru Dom/Sub. They also talked like normal people who really mattered to each other. He showed his vulnerability and allowed her to show hers. She challenged him sometimes and he didn’t always pull the Dom card on her. I REALLY hate that in some of the other books containing elements of bdsm ... where the women’s will is only validated when it’s in agreement with her Dom. Ugh !!Also LOVED that Coral & Liam from This Is Where I Sleep were front & center in this book too. Think that’s my favorite Tiffany Patterson book. Got a good peek into their lives. Thank you Ms Patterson!!!This was truly a good read. Highly recommend it.
Another great Tiffany Patterson great. Parts of this book was hard to read with me being the mother of three daughters I couldn't imagine a child going through what Tasha or Trudy went through. I wanted so bad to reach into the pages and pull little Trudy away form her situation. Love Jeremy he's a good guy and I was happy to see him make peace with his past. Him and Tasha together was hot their chemistry was crazy. I was glad we got to see how Coral, Liam ,Stacy and Andre were doing. Gotta love a love story with a little bit of action and a happy ending.
I am almost speechless. It was intense, sexy, mesmerizing, deep and spiritual on do many levels. Storm is my favorite Marvel character and to see her and "wolverine" used in such a deep analogy was freaking amazing. I loved how Jeremy and Tash were each others healing balm needed for them to address the deeply rooted scars theu have endured in life. This was absolutely amazing and the number one reason Tiffany Patterson is my favorite author. I loved how Jeremy was able to help Tasha past her insecurities and ahe was embraced in a bigger family. I also loved the reappearance of bad ass Coral and how she secretly got retribution for her sister's assailants how victimized her through the years. I hope we have a story coming up on the Senator one day. That could be interesting. I am in love with this book!
Right off I knew from the descriptor I would not like the whole BDSM...whips & chains nastiness. But since I was introduced to Jeremy & Tasha in This Is Where I Sleep I wanted to learn about their backstories.That part is touching as these two broken people recognize a common bond & need that they can only fulfill in each other.Their stories are achingly realistic stirring up haunting memories. It's probably why I don't get that lifestyle. I can't separate it from common abuse. It's just dressed up with different names.But in "My Storm" old wounds are scabbed over. There are reckonings and redemption and a slightly nauseating love story that works for our Hero & Heroine.
Tiffany Patterson delivers another certified page turner. Jeremy and Tasha two emotionally flawed people decide to explore their undeniable attraction by engaging in an unconventional relationship and in this relationship both are able to lay their past to rest and concentrate on the future they both so richly deserve. Pick this book up. You will not be disappointed.
I knew this would be good. I haven't read a Tiffany Patterson book that wasn't. While I loved the book, I only gave 4 stars because I felt like something was missing. I don't know what that something is/was. I hate that I can't elaborate on it. Maybe it was that she a little too meek or that he never seemed to let go of his Dom ways. Or that the ending seemed a little rushed. Not sure but what I do know is that she wrote the story to make the characters mesh well together. It worked just like all the others. Good one!
Not long after I finished, 'This is Where I Sleep', I began looking forward to Jeremy and LaTasha. This story didn't disappoint. I'm not really into the 'lifestyle', but it was presented in the story in a way that wasn't overwhelming. It didn't take up the majority of the scenes and it wasn't the entirety of their story. (Although there were some very steamy scenes) Jeremy and LaTasha's story was really about two very wounded souls who found one another. I was so pulled in that I was unable to stop reading, once I began. I don't regret a minute of the time I gave to the story. While the characters in this story appear in other books in the series, their story can be read as a stand alone.

About the Author
Don Karr is a highly regarded expert on the hermetic arts.Stephen Skinner began his career as a Geography lecturer and magazine publisher, but his long term interests have always been Western magic and feng shui. Stephen has written more than 35 books, which have been published worldwide in 28 different languages. These books have had introductions by such diverse people as Colin Wilson, HRH Charles Prince of Wales, and Jimmy Choo, shoe designer to the stars. Stephen lives in Singapore. Sepher Raziel―also called Liber Salomonis―is a full grimoire in the Solomonic tradition from a sixteenth century manuscript. It contains seven books: the Clavis, concerned with astrology and its use in magic, with precise interactions between planets, Signs, and Houses; the Ala, outlining the magical virtues of stones, herbs, and animals; the Tractatus Thymiamatus, which determines perfumes and suffumigations used in the Art; a Treatise of Times detailing the correct hours of the day for each operation; a Treatise on Preparations on ritual purity, and abstinence; Samaim, on the different heavens and their angels; and finally, a Book of Names and their virtues and properties, being seven semiforas of Adam and seven semiforas of Moses. The Sepher Raziel text is given in two forms: a literal transcription with no changes in spelling or wording and a modern English version. This volume also includes a foreword which offers an overview of Raziel manuscripts, which represent a number of independent traditions, an essay on the literature of Solomonic magic in English, an introduction to the Sepher Raziel manuscript presented, an appendix on incense nomenclature as a supplement to Tractatus Thymiamatus, a list of printed notices and manuscript sources of Sepher Raziel, and a full bibliography of printed works on Solomonic magic and items of related interest. Scholars and practitioners alike should be delighted with this edition of the "Sepher Raziel: Liber Salomonis". Not only is the book handsome, finely printed and well edited, but the writing of Karr and Skinner is clear, meticulously sourced, and suitably informative.Speaking for myself, it's marvelous to finally have the full text of this work available and not to have to rely on previously published and generally unreliable snippets like those to be found in books like Thompson's "Mysteries and Secrets of Magic" or even Agrippa's "Three Books". Hats off to Karr and Skinner for all the hard work obviously involved here, to the Golden Hoard press for the fine presentation, and to Llewellyn for distributing such genuinely esoteric material.

I was between voting 3 and 4 stars on this and have chosen 4 because it's still useful regardless of its faults. We spent over a month all over southern Malawi and consulted this regularly. The problem is that the phone numbers are out of date and some of the info is inaccurate but that's not the fault of the author since the area keeps changing so often.If you're going to Malawi you should definitely get these guides but make sure you purchase the newest version to get the most accurate info you can get. This is already outdated.While the info can be outdated, phone numbers incorrect, business hours incorrect, etc. The maps and suggestions are invaluable. I'd suggest getting ideas from this and then doing research in the area to make sure the hours or phone numbers are right. In other words, don't completely trust the business hours, phone numbers, or addresses but definitely trust this as a source of suggestions for attractions as well as travel tips. The businesses there change so often that you can't blame a book for inaccurate addresses, hours and numbers. While we were there in the course of a month two businesses moved locations, four changed hours, and many had canceled their phones or changed their numbers.
I lived in Blantyre for three months and relied heavily on this book. It has a wealth of information on day and week-long excursions, restaurants, city highlights, transportation, and even health concerns. Yes, many phone numbers are out of date, but you'll find that Malawians change their phone numbers pretty often, so it's not the book's fault. I admired the writer's tone and condensed writing style.Lastly, if you're looking at this page, you're probably planning a trip to Malawi. It's a welcoming, gorgeous, transformative place. Eat all the avocados and mandazi balls you can find!!
Our family actually has two of these. One resides in Malawi with a family member living there. He uses it constantly and it is an invaluable resource for the traveling ex-pat. We bought a second one to prepare for and take with us on a visit this year. We, too, used it constantly, and made continual use of the directions and recommendations. I think our journey would have been much less successful without it. We did not find anything that was out of date or inconsistent with the local reality, which is extremely important when traveling in a country with limited resources and infrastructure.We also loved the sections on history, culture, and wildlife. These are a real plus in this book. Our trip was somewhat off the beaten path and we learned an enormous amount about what we were seeing and doing from this book. I highly recommend it to anyone thinking about a trip to Malawi.One additional feature is the online updates available at the Bradt website. We found these equally helpful and good companion material for the book.
There is a ton of good information in this book. If you are going to travel to Malawi its a must have.
The book was for those people going into the tourist areas not the less traveled areas.
I think the book is mostly accurate. I think this was a good purchase....
Malawi is a small country by African standards, and has no high-profile star attractions.Few tourists visit more places than some beach resorts along the shores of its huge lake.Considering the above, the wealth of info on potential destinations included in this book is stunning.Not only is pretty much every sizeable town described, so are plenty of rural areas, notably obscure forest reserves, marshes and small lakes.The info on the country's wildlife and national parks is truly in-depth and very interesting. So is the background information on culture and history. Very good list of bokks recommended for further reading at the back.Also, all the practical details (with prices) on accommodation and transport options you might find in better-known series like Lonely Planet (which no longer publishes a separate Malawi guide).In fact, the only disadvantage of this book might just be that with all the recommendations, it might make you spend much longer in Malawi than you had originally planned! ;-)

I purchased this book for my Corporate Governance course, and I'm thoroughly enjoying reading it. The only reason for one less star is I feel there's a lot of information condensed into each chapter. Some of the information is repetitive, or otherwise omittable. However, seeing as knowledge is infinite, I commend the authors for including so many examples and testimonies from those either involved in fraudulent activity, or those who were responsible for both deterring/exposing fraud. None the less, it's one of my favorite courses, and the text also earns a title of favorite book read in college.
I ordered this book to use in a graduate class. It is one of my favorite books. It is informative yet to the point and easy to follow. There is not too much useless fluff.
This is a well-written and interesting book. I used it to earn continuing education hours for my CFE credential.
Not up to the level I was expecting.

Like consciousness, time is a subject that no philosopher or physicist has ever managed to nail down completely. Thanks to their slippery character, being so close to us (the first one IS us) they are endless sources for fountains of speculation. In this book, Rovelli's subject is time, but consciousness comes into this narrative as well.Rovelli is a "time denier". OK, that's being a little unfair but not by much. What he denies is that there exists an independent, fundamental property or quality of the universe that is time. Of course the universe is full of movement and change, events unfolding into other events. His basic position is that time emerges into our perspective, our viewpoint, from these phenomena, but it is merely an illusion. The movement is real, the changing is real, but the time in which all of this seems to occur is nothing more than a manifestation of human (possibly animal) mind and the illusion, in turn, is supported by the entropy generated in the functioning of our brains.The book (not long read) is divided into three parts. In the first Rovelli covers the various sub-disciplines of physics and their temporal implications (or lack thereof). He begins with classical physics (the equations work backwards in time), and moves on to General and Special Relativity, and quantum mechanics. Here he demonstrates that our simple intuition of a universal time flowing from past to future is untenable. Time, mind-independent time, if it exists at all, cannot be like that. In part two he further demolishes time. Not only is it not what we think, in and for physics, it doesn't really exist at all; even the present is an illusion! In part three, he puts time back together for and in the perspective of an subjective viewpoint.He argues it is the fact that we view the world from a perspective, that when we perceive the world we inevitably blur the details into a sort of summary or gestalt for our perspective, that causes time to appear to mind, The physics supporting that appearance comes down to thermodynamics. Human time, brain time, is "thermal time". Certainly Rovelli thinks thermodynamics (in particular the 2nd law) is real, but while responsible for what consciousness perceives of time and so a real enough subjective experience, from the 3rd party perspective of physics, change is real, but time is a mirage.This book is written for a lay audience. There is almost no math in it (what there is appears in footnotes), and it defends a view common to much of the physics and philosophy community. To be sure Rovelli differs a bit from some of his peers. He argues that relativistic "block time" is no more a "true portrait of objective time" than any other theory. In Rovelli's view remember there is no such thing as "objective time".In 2015 a philosopher (Roberto Unger) and a physicist (Lee Smolin) wrote "The Singular Universe and the Reality of Time". This book (reviewed by me on Amazon) makes precisely the opposite case from that of Rovelli. Of course they recognize what Relativity and quantum mechanics imply about time, but they maintain, nevertheless, that a notion (and reality) of objective, "universal time", is more fundamental than any other phenomena of the universe, even more than space! Rovelli mentions this book in a footnote and admits that Unger and Smolin's view "is defensible", but he leaves it there and never addresses what is defensible about it.The Unger/Smolin book goes against the grain of 95% of today's physicists. Personally I agree with Smolin and Unger. The fact (thanks to limiting effect of the speed of light) that we cannot map our present to any present in a remote galaxy, or even the nearest star does not mean there is no present there, in fact everywhere. Something is happening, NOW, everywhere in the universe. We do not know what it is, but that does not mean the present isn't real as Rovelli believes. Had Rovelli directly addressed Unger and Smolin I would have given this book another star. Had he not mentioned them at all, I would have taken another away.In summary this is a decent and well written book advocating for a particular view of time (or no time) that I happen to think is wrong, but what do I know? It happens to be the dominant view in physics today. Rovelli is a well respected physicist and a good writer. Those of you interested in the subject will find this book valuable whether you agree with the author or not.

For example a human being is not a thing at all, but a process, »like the cloud above the mountain, it's a complex process which enters and exits food, information, light, words and so on. Knot of knots in a network of social relations, in a network of chemical processes, in a network of emotions exchanged with its own kind." I've also learned something about entropy. »What makes the world go round are not sources of energy but the sources of low entropy. Without low entropy, energy would be diluted into uniform heat and the world would go to sleep in a state of thermal equilibrium - there would no longer be any distinction between past and future, and nothing would happen. Traces of the past exist, and not traces of the future, only because entropy was low in the past."Really a great book that transforms the way we perceive "the reality". It probably should be read more than once. The final thoughts of the writer on the meaning of life and death are also beautiful. Almost a little poetic. The book is written in an intelligible way.
Carlo Rovelli has the brilliance of Stephen Hawking and Albert Einstein and the communicative skills of Carl Sagan. Otherwise he is an Italian theoretical physicist that specializes in quantum gravity and is a proponent, if not quite an advocate, of loop theory. Beyond that he is a philosopher with a heart for ancient poetry and love.And he brings all of it to bear in this delightful book about time, which, in the end, is life, and everything, including the context in which it unfolds. It would be in error to suggest that time doesn’t exist, but it would be equally in error to suggest that time is as simple as the continuum we record with our clocks.What I like most about the book is the fact that Rovelli recognizes that philosophy and science, if not two sides of the same coin, are cousins. He refers to Proust, which few scientists do, and suggests that while reason is among the best tools available for interpreting our “collective delirium,†it is “only an instrument, a pincer.â€The science and the prose are very accessible. You will, however, have to be willing to think abstractly, a skill that in our wired, binary world seems to be greatly dissipating. And he is the first scientist I have read in a while who takes time to explain why the problem is sometimes not the science itself, but the limitations of language. Language is a human construction and has not kept up with our scientific revelation. Which is why theoretical physicists sometimes seem to be speaking another language. If only there was another language that was constructed in the world as we know it today, our communication would be so much easier and our knowledge would expand more rapidly.It would be impossible to summarize the knowledge contained in this book. You really have to read it. Here is a start, however: “The world is not a collection of things, it is a collection of events.†If you can comprehend that the rest is largely additional perspective.And if the idea that universal time doesn’t exist in any absolute sense seems a stretch, consider Rovelli’s simple explanation (I’m paraphrasing): People never used to worry about clocks. They worried about the cycle of sunshine and darkness. But that cycle is different in every single village, town, and city on the planet. The cycle varies both east to west and north to south. And back when we used to spend our lives in our little village we didn’t care. But then the scientists and engineers invented trains to take us from one village to the next. And people needed to know when the train left their village. But how can you develop a timetable when every village has its own time? You can’t. But, at the same time, it’s not quite practical to say that the whole world has just one time. Farmers don’t care what the sun is doing in London. They care what it’s doing on their farm. (China actually has no time zones by edict. The entire country is on Beijing time and there are significant practical limitations.) The solution was the time zone, and it’s a compromise. Time zones are a construct and practical in the local sense, but highly inaccurate when talking about the universe. In the language of theoretical physics, they don’t exist.Eastern philosophers believe that reality is not knowable. It is real, but is made up of an infinite number of variables. We can only comprehend or think about a handful at a time. A tree is real. I can touch it and smell it. But it is not entirely knowable because there are too many variables (e.g. altitude, climate, soil, etc.) that define each tree for me to know them all. Time is the same way. Time is real but it is not knowable. Throw in the limitations of language and it begins to look like an illusion.To his great credit, Rovelli admits that there is much we don’t know. Think of a Seurat painting that has been blacked out. We have exposed a few, perhaps 10% (my number), of the original dots of pigment. It’s a lot, but we’re still guessing as to what the underlying picture is.And that’s pretty exciting. The key to our understanding to date, however, is the second law of thermodynamics which states that entropy can never decrease. It’s critical to our understanding of time, as Rovelli explains. Personally I’m not convinced it’s inviolate. Perhaps we just haven’t uncovered enough dots of pigment yet. If entropy could work both ways it would explain a lot, but attraction does not equal fact. (Entropy obviously has a big role in causality, of course. Bidirectional entropy would be a huge boost for inductive reason.)It’s a short book and even if you get through a small amount of it you will learn a lot. Beyond writing in an accessible way, Rovelli comes off as very personable. The perfect person to sit down and share a cup of coffee with. If only he had the time. The layout is nice, presentation good.The only thing I would mark down on this otherwise gorgeous book is if you are not completely, totally familiar with the painter's work you are lost as which painting you are looking at. The table of contents are not numbered (ding- lost a couples points), the name of the painting is not on the page (ding- there go some more points). Otherwise - if you don't mind a little grunt work purchase the book. 4 star rating just for the table of contents
Great paintings by a great painter. I love art and I love to create my own art amd this book has some really great paintings to inspire you to greatness. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do and have a nice day.
Bouguereau painted the human form and flesh tones better than any artist that I have ever experienced. The images zoom well so that you can examine his work more closely. Works well on mobile apps, but larger view does not work on my iMac.
