Bought this set as a gift for a co-worker's children. I have the set for myself and her children are the perfect age to start having the books read to them.The box the books come in is very sturdy and looks great. The books themselves come with colorful dust covers and sturdy binding.This is the complete "Winnie the Pooh" set, so you'll be getting both of the story books and both of the poem books. These are great books to get your younger children into reading and I remember reading them to my sister when she was a baby hoping she'd like them too.The books are fully illustrated with the ~original~ artwork (black and white) and are great to have with the story.
My granddaughter loved it. She's too young to read it by herself (6) but has great parents that will.She was seriously injured in a bike accident on Mother's day, so surgeries, hospital and home at the end of school was a drag.This gave her something new to focus on and got there fast, which was important!
I bought these as a gift for a 21 month old little boy (who is in love with both books & Pooh Bear) & it was a HUGE success!! He instantly pulled them out of their box & began turning the pages to see more pictures of Pooh! He was delighted & so was I!! They are the perfect size for any child, have the sweetest pictures & it's the complete collection of Winnie the Pooh... How can you go wrong?!
The outside covers are well made, but the books' pages are printed on poor quality paper that is pretty rough to the touch. One of the pages in 'Now We Are Six' was torn and badly glued, despite the set arriving fully sealed in plastic. It's a shame as these would be really beautiful books if better quality paper was used. I had hoped to give these books to a little boy as a special keepsake gift, so I'm a bit more disappointed than I would be if they were just an everyday purchase.On the bright side, the books are light enough for a small child to hold and I bet he will really enjoy adding colour to the black and white illustrations! Besides, the stories are what really matter and flicking through these original, untouched-by-Disney tales has brought back dormant memories of my own childhood. These adventures through the Hundred Acre Woods are as magical today as they were all those years ago and if nothing else, these books have reminded me of how special these stories and poems are.
First off the stories are wonderful, but you probably already know that. Your child will love them and you will too. It's this particular printing that does a disservice to the books. Inside is all black and white on cheap lightweight paper. I bought this set as a gift for a friend having a baby. I chose the more expensive set that claimed to have a high print quality thinking it'd be a nicer gift. I was wrong. I certainly can't speak for the other options available as I only purchased this version but this one was very disappointing.
I was somewhat reluctant to pay this price for children's books, but did so in recollection of how much enjoyment I got out of them as a boy. First, a young boy, and a surprising number of years thereafter. Children will appreciate the simple stories, and adult narrators the wry humor with which they are told.Winnie the Pooh has been absorbed as part of our culture, in the process of which the original is almost forgotten. Everybody knows the Disney characters of Pooh, Tigger and Piglet. Very few remember the little boy, Christopher Robin, whose toys they were. It is a worldwide phenomenon. My son has a jigsaw puzzle of Винни Пух - a Russian transliteration, but with characters that bear no resemblance to either Milne's original or Disney.I ripped the package open when it came in yesterday's mail, and read it to my two-year-old son well past the point at which he lost interest. It is an engrossing story, one what makes me want to keep on reading.Five stars now, for the same reasons it was a five-star production in the early 20th century. It's worth buying a well-produced edition; these books will stand the test of time.
Nice gift set. I bought this because I was read the main Winnie the Pooh book as a child, I'm told. I can't actually recall it and now that I've read these, I'm sure I totally can't remember. They're a nice reminder of simpler times, when stories were enough for kids...not crazy illustrations, etc., etc., Dr. Seuss nightmare-esque books, etc.
"There are lots and lots of people that are always asking thing, like dates and pounds and ounces and the name of funny king. Love Pooh and Christopher Robin, can't believe I didn't have this in my library before this. Well made, nice quality.

I appreciate the style layout of the book. This is not my first Ayurvedic book. The layout, organization and illustrations contribute to the easy of what can be a deep and complex subject matter. I recently used many of the recipes to cater a weekend yoga retreat that asked for an Ayurvedic menu. The only fuss I had was some recipes called for Agave as a sweetener. In my opinion, agave is a highly processed food and not aligned with whole foods. I subsituted maple syrup or honey. Otherwise it is a well rounded beautiful resource. I would recommend it also as a nice gift.
