If it was possible, I would have sent a copy to everyone who isrenewing the Spirit of Peace through Nonviolence. The book istruly an Experiment in Truth in its own right. The excellence withwhich this book was allowed to unfold and ripen into the maturestatement it makes both on Gandhi and on Peace throughNonviolence, marks it as being what it also describes. This isa glimpse of what the exhibition itself must be like. I would hopethat it would lead to the exhibit coming to communities to nurtureconversations that become communion.
I like everything about this book. Starting with the topic, a show of documents and art at the Menil Collection in Houston, which then travelled to the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum in Geneva, Switzerland. Assembled and curated over years, with considerable intelligence and emotion, the show is amazing and covers a lot of ground, not just Gandhi, far from it. The book is superb in the way it covers the topics, and is written beautifully. I love the layout, the paper, the typeface, the object. I read it enthusiastically, continue to refer to it as I guide the show in Geneva, and even enjoy just looking at it on my table.
