All 4 of our children are in the double digits; so this has been an ideal devotional for our "God and I" times in the mornings! Each teen takes weekly turns reading for the day. Then, whatever verse for the day is, we read the entire chapter together as well. (We divide up the number of verses in the chapter, and we read a section of verses at a time.I've actually seen improvement over the summer in our youngest's reading ability! :)
I bought the book because I liked the pages I was able to see; my 16 year-old daughter tells me this book makes her feel like Jesus is her best friend and speaking directly to her heart.
The devotion is gets me in reading the bible, and praying. At the end there is a prayer for you to recite, but unlike most devotions there is no amen, it encourages you to elaborate. I am closer to God because of the devotion and I am only on Day 21.Recommend it to all teens and some young adults.
I would really recommend this one for your teen! My son actually seems to like it as he said some of it is real life stuff he confronts on any given day. Not that he lets us see him study it ...we know he does... as the pages are dog eared!!!
My son is 15 and we read this every night. It gives you the verse and then a quick explanation like Jesus is talking directly to you then the prayer. I like it because there are no stories from babyboomers trying to relate to today's teens! Often the verse and the following is enough and my son will spontaneously go into his own prayer. I highly recommended this as a brief but powerful tool to keep your mind on God.
My 15 year old asked for a new devotional after finishing the one she had. After researching and reviewing other devotionals for teens on Amazon, I was drawn to this one. She loves it!! The readings and scriptures have the perfect balance, and relate to issues/topics that teens face in the modern world. Would definitely buy this for other teens as a gift!

For each day, it starts you off with a Bible verse, then a little passage that speaks from God's point of view directly to you, and finally there is a prayer reminding you of God's love and how we must try to be more like him, and other things too! Moilanen has extensive experience in tourism destination branding and development in several countries in the world, and during more than a decade has been involved in developing strategic Master Plans of several leading tourism destinations. Moilanen is also a seasoned speaker in seminars and international conferences related to destination branding. Currently Moilanen is the Chairman of the Board and Principal Lecturer of the first and largest Master level programme of Hospitality Management in Finland, at HAAGA-HELIA University of Applied Sciences, and works as the CEO of Imagian Ltd, a consultancy company specializing in Place Branding.SEPPO RAINISTO is recognized as a leading specialist in place marketing and branding, now chairman of Meritleader Int. His study Success Factors of Place Marketing (2003) was probably the first doctoral dissertation in the field. Rainisto advises numerous cities, regions and communities on place branding. The minds behind the book fail to display an authoritative command of the subject and even crash then burn when addressing the well established theoretical framework for product and service branding.Words and phrases meander on their way to make a point and assertions get lost in endless repetition as a reader might stumble over badly organized chapters, paragraphs and even sentences.The doctoral students at the heart of this work should leave marketplace offerings and return to their academic environs more accepting of sophmoric admirations of their elders and more studied peers.I will use the book as an exceptional listing of contemporary studies on more narrow subjects.
I am currently working on my grad school thesis pertaining to the topic of city branding. I have checked out a handful of books from the school's library and have found this one to be the most resourceful.The authors wrote this book in such a clear and straight-forward manner. Right off the bat, the opening chapter that introduces the general concept of branding is one of the best I have ever read (...and I have read A LOT of books on branding!). The book also contains plenty of great examples of both successes and failures (very insightful!) of past branding attempts. It explains all the things you need to consider if you were to attempt to brand a destination. Throughout, the narrative/pacing is well maintained as we jump from one chapter to the other.Seriously, I can't say enough about this book. If I were to actually land a city branding project, I would totally use this book as my official guide (dare I say Bible!). It's a great tool for those new to the topic to learn from and for experts to revisit some of the things that they may have learned to overlook throughout the years. I can't honestly say that this is THE book for destination branding...the authors did mention that this concept is still relatively new and there's still much to be learned as more and more attempts arises...but it sure is a great start.

Kindergarten-Grade 4-This story, adapted from a Yoruba folktale, tells of three brothers who, having completed their manhood ceremonies, must decide on their life's work. The first two make acceptable decisions, but the third boy, Banzar, wants only to be a musician. When the village elders rule that his choice is unacceptable, he leaves. He meets an old, blind praise singer (or griot), and the two spend years traveling while Sholo teaches the young man how to make a living as a musician. When the Singing Man dies, Banzar goes on to become the personal musician of the king of Lagos. One day, he sees his brothers in the marketplace and arranges for a happy reunion. This story imparts the subtle bits of wisdom found in traditional African folklore. Medearis's retelling is well developed and presents a fuller text than found in her Dancing with the Indians (Holiday, 1991) and Our People (Atheneum, 1994). Shaffer's rich oil paintings and decorative borders are lively and capture the mood of the text. Expressive renderings convey the anxiety of approaching manhood, the ambivalence of having to choose between family tradition and one's heart's desire, the shame of failure, and the pride in success. Banzar's humility enables him to return to his family and offer them love and financial assistance. The recipes sound good in this book, but since there are no photos with any of the recipes in this book, it's a lot harder to tell if particular recipes would be something I might want to make. No photos might be okay for drop cookie or cake recipes, or quick breads. But for something like puff pastry desserts and appetizers, it's really nice to be able to see what the food is supposed to look like. Many of us need the visual to help us know what to do, and to envision the finished product. I doubt I will make very many of the recipes in this cookbook, just because there aren't photos. It's the photos that motivate many of us cooks to want to make something.
Very good book but there are no pictures of. The finished work!

Yes, yes, yes! I liked the first book, but this one just blew it out of the water and made me fall in love. I read this on vacation in between museum visits, clubbing, and beach time because it was so compelling that I couldn't stop thinking about it (or help buying the next book right after).This book was longer than the first, filled in much of Jeremy's background, had Jeremy and Simon grow much closer, and was a heart-racing explosion of action and issues to be dealt with (both covertly and overtly). I began to love all of the characters, the sleight-of-hand world the characters live in, and the wide scope of this book. While I felt the first book just introduced the story and felt somewhat disjointed (with throwing you in the middle of the many characters and all), this one really solidly bolted down the intent of this series, the loveliness (and grouchiness) of the characters, made you feel a part of the group, and was such a fun, and funny, read. This is possibly the best sequel I have ever read because it improved so much upon the first book. I have never read a series where there was such a big jump in quality from one book to the next, but I am so glad that there is and I read this!I am still rooting 100% for Simon and Jeremy, loving how their dynamic is changing, and am feeling a voracious appetite to see what will happen to them. Yes, Simon does piss me off with his less than kind treatment of Jeremy sometimes, but I still feel that they fit. And I love how Jeremy takes care of him time and again (in the next book as well) even without much appreciation shown to him. They respond to each other so well and are beautiful together when they put the outside world aside and just try a bit.The action this time has to do with catching someone close to Jeremy, prompting the explanations of his past, and I love how this was handled. Also, the other characters were explored more (there are chapters from each of their points of view in the next book, allowing for even more depth) and there is trouble within the team later in the book. It was all set up well, and was unexpected as to where the story took us. But it was still quite humorous and enjoyable to read throughout the problems and darker parts.All in all, this was a perfect sequel, on a completely different level than the first, and drew me in completely in a way the first didn't, so now this series is tied to my heart. Read the first book, then read this, and fall in love as I did.
I've seen some reviews that say the pacing is a little messed up. But honestly, I'm not seeing it. I was entertained the whole time. It's like watching a crime show. You're taken through all the steps in uncovering the mystery. It's not supposed to be guns & action non-stop.I wasn't a big fan of the slurs used, though I do think it was kinda typical of the image FBI agents have. You got these masculine dudes in positions of power shooting the shit and while I was not fond of some of the words, it didn't seem misplaced.The ending was a little unexpected- not what happened with one character, but what happened with the arrests etc. I enjoyed getting to know more about Jeremy.Anyway, I'm 60% into the next book, but I read this on vacation.
Double Down continues the story in The Morning Star, with the same fast paced rhythm and delirious humour. In the second instalment of the adventures of Templar’s team, they must face a new challenge: A cat burglar who is stealing high tech gadgets which afterwards appear mysteriously in the Russian market. This thief’s modus operandi and tools are an exact copy of those used by Jeremy Archer. That’s why Simon decides to ask Jeremy for help, which brings about unexpected consequences…The book is clearly divided in two parts: In the first one, Simon and his team set the trap to catch Simon’s double, who turns out to be very closely related to Jeremy’s past. His refusal to properly identify the thief, even though he helps them to set the trap, strains his relationship with Simon and the whole FBI team. The second part of the book starts after their failure at trapping the elusive thief, when they discover that there is a mole in the FBI. The identity of the mole confronts Jeremy and Simon, and brings about a series of events which end up with Simon on an institutional leave and bordering a breakdown. It is Jeremy who eventually forces him to get over his guilt and brings his back to his not very normal self. The relationship between Simon and Jeremy is as bizarre and stressful as in the previous book, but there is an evolution. We learnt many things about Jeremy’s past, which helps us understand his idiosyncrasy. Simon’s past, on the other hand, remains a mystery, and it is a pity because I think it would provide answers to why Simon continues behaving like such a jerk with Jeremy. Of the two main characters, Jeremy is the most likeable one who keeps being brushed aside and trashed by Simon. But I cannot help reaching the conclusion that the more Simon mistreats Jeremy, the more he cares about the thief. It is just his twisted way of showing that he cares. As for the rest of the team, they continue to be a gang of lunatic misfits who are unconditionally loyal to their beloved boss… are they?I really liked the book. I recommend it as much as the first one. It is like Casino Royale meets the madhouse. Action-packed, fast paced, with likeable characters and full of humour and even drama, it has everything you can enjoy in a book. I am just moving on to the third book. I cannot wait.
4.5 starsWell, Simon is consistent. A jerk, but I guess the whole hooking up with a criminal is a bit dicey. Perhaps that's what pushes him over the edge. Jeremy is a bit more forgiving than I think he should be. He seems to be very invested in Simon and whatever it is he sees in him.The mystery & suspense part of the story is excellent! From 76% on, I was unwilling to put down my kindle. Well played. I will read the next book soon.
Great sequel, loved Simon and Jeremy's interaction, .. Team Templar was a strong team, with an twist, that has been building since the first book. For a surprisingly strong team, not everything is as it seems. Highly recommend.
Drama, suspense, intrigue and a lillte twist that keeps you reading until the wee hours of the morning. If Hollywood had an ounce of sense, this series of books would make a blockbuster hit.
It's worth it, guys. There's not a lot of reviews or hype but this book series is well written with incredible characters and a great plot. Take a chance on this book!
